Phil's Storm Chasing Logs from 2010
My good buddy and fellow colleague Evan Bookbinder got me a seat with VORTEX 2 in 2010. I travelled with the CSWR group from 05-15 June. This chase was very different from previous storm chases as our goal was to deploy probes in the path of tornadoes to gather meteorological data.   • June 4, 2010 - Travel out to Wichita and prepare to meet up with the VORTEX 2 group.

  • June 5, 2010 - Travel out to Des Moines and meet up with the VORTEX 2 group for the first chase of the season.

  • June 6, 2010 - Go to the Nebraska Panhandle for some good looking supercells.

  • June 7, 2010 - Help out the UAV crew in the Nebraska Panhandle.

  • June 8, 2010 - No chaseable ops near Limon, CO.

  • June 9, 2010 - Supercells in the Nebraska Panhandle.

  • June 10, 2010 - 2 tornadoes in Northeast Colorado.

  • June 11, 2010 - Large hail and Tornadoes in east central Colorado.

  • June 12, 2010 - Storms along the cold front in the Texas Panhandle.

  • June 13, 2010 - 2 tornadoes and a successful deployment in the TX/OK Panhandle.

  • June 14, 2010 - Several gustnadoes and flooding in the TX Panhandle.

  • June 15, 2010 - Last day of VORTEX 2 on the TX/NM border.

  • June 16-17, 2010 - Final stats for VORTEX 2 with pictures of me taken by others on the trip.
